A tremendous piece of writing, Randy. Bullseye. I sometimes wonder how attuned seminaries are as they are preparing people for the pastorate. Perhaps you got a heavy dose on preaching and counseling and less instruction about the other complexities of the ministry. I honestly think you have the makings of another book with this post, sir. You could encourage pastors and spouses to accept the fact that the pastor does not have to excel at all ministry functions; you could encourage people in congregations to take their God-given responsibilities for ministry serious -- and to cut pastors slack. We definitely should not expect pastors to be brilliant with all of the job functions. Nicely done, Pastor. You do so many things well, one of which is written communication!
